Los Niños de la Calle con Wendy Foundation
Message from the President

This year marks the 7th year that the foundation has been in existence. Throughout the years we have been able to give back to our community and our neighbors across the border above and beyond our expectations. Part of our success is greatly attributed to the response from you; our sponsors and volunteers. We truly could not do the work we do to serve those in need without you.

This past year we have received a great honor from Bruno Serato, owner of The White House restaurant, founder of Caterina’s Club, and a CNN Hero recipient. Mr. Serato has recognized Los Niños de la Calle con Wendy Foundation as one of two hundred non-profit organizations whose humanitarian work has had an impact in the community. As part of this recognition, Mr. Serato has awarded the foundation a charity luncheon that will allow us to raise funds for our projects. As our charity luncheon approaches at The White House restaurant, May 4, 2014, we will be sending out more information.

Feeding the Homeless
Every Sunday, since January 31, 2010, the foundations with the support of its valued sponsors and the help of its volunteers have been providing a “Thank-full’ Sunday Lunch to the homeless. In the 2011 calendar year, over 5,500 meals have been given to the homeless. This year we were also able to donate over 150 brand new blankets to the Fullerton Armory Homeless Shelter.

Backpacks for Children in Need
At our first back to school drive in 2005, we raised enough funds to purchase approximately 1,000 note books for the needy children of Tijuana, Mexico.  In 2011, we were able to raise enough funds to purchase over 500 backpacks, 2,000 pencils 1,000 pens and notebooks and 500 erasers, glue sticks and crayons for needy children in Orange County.

Wendy M. Trujillo Memorial Scholarship

Throughout the years, the foundation has donated over $6,000 dollars to the Wendy M. Trujillo Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes community involvement as well as academic success and encourages students with humanitarian qualities to pursue a higher education. Students who are avid in community service while maintaining a high level of educational performance should be praised for their merits. This year we will continue to award scholarships to scholars who demonstrate that there is always time to help others even with a demanding school schedule.

Sincerely,

Jose Luis Trujillo
